Nebbiolo: WA 91 "Aldo Conterno’s 2004 Barolo is simply beautiful. A medium red, it presents a feminine expression of Nebbiolo in its perfumed, spiced red raspberries and cherries. This is a soft, accessible Barolo ideal for near and mid-term drinking that fully captures the essence of this great vintage."

Nebbiolo: WA 99 pts "The 2001 Barolo Riserva Monfortino flows from the glass with stunning depth and purity. This seamless, elegant Barolo caresses the palate with incredible persistence as layers of aromas and flavors develop in the glass. Stylistically it is very much like the 2001 Cascina Francia, only with more intensity, depth and sheer volume. Monfortino has always had power to spare, but in 2001 it is also incredibly elegant, something that previous vintages have only acquired with significant bottle age. This is a towering, majestic Monfortino that will rightfully take its place among the very finest Monfortinos ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2041."

Nebbiolo, Barbera: AG, Wine Advocate 95 pts "The 2004 Costa Russi is irresistibly sexy and opulent. As is typically the case, the wine is more overtly fruit-driven, with a round, supple personality. Sweet, long and richly-textured, it is just plain awesome in its display of generous, vibrant fruit, tar, smoke, minerals and herbs. It is the finest Costa Russi yet. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024."

Sangiovese, Alicante, Syrah: WA 91 pts "The 2005 Aragone naturally displays greater depth and richness than the Morellino. It offers outstanding length and notable poise in its expression of sweet black cherries, wild herbs and earthiness. Though full-bodied and expansive on the palate, the 2005 doesn’t quite have the clarity or precision of the gorgeous 2004, but that is simply a factor of the weaker vintage. Aragone is 85% Sangiovese, with smaller portions of Alicante, Syrah, Ciliegiolo and Colorino. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2017."
