2018 ALIT Pinot Noir

In the summer of 2019, we were invited out to Oregon with a group of the fanciest NYC restauranteurs and sommeliers to visit Rose & Arrow and ALIT and see first-hand the exciting and groundbreaking work being done by this crazy band of global minerality freaks including Mark Tarlov, Felipe Ramirez, Pedro Parra and the artist formerly known as Louis-Michel Liger-Belair.

Pictures will save a thousand words, but we were given the first pick of barrels to blend OUR OWN 2018 ALIT PINOT NOIR for you and we are ecstatic to release it today with our new TEXT TO ORDER campaign and the chance to get Pedro Parra's new book for FREE! What a triple scoop that is!! 2021 Goals getting checked off one by one!!!!

I sat down tonight and drank all 3 vintages of Alit, the original 2015, 2016, and the new 2018. The 2015 is so pretty and soft with nice red fruit and is finally completely mature. As a barometer, we now know ALIT is a wine that peaks in 3 years and carries a nice 3-year optimal drinking window, and should be finished before its 10th birthday. I'll miss you 2015. I am quite fond of the 2016 ALIT, it has the tertiary nose that I adore, a strong backbone, is peaking right now, and will get better over the next year. The 2016 is silky and sexy and also now completely sold out. I'll miss you 2016.

How is the 2018 you ask? I'll leave it up to you to decide but tonight I opened the first bottle since we visited the winery 2 years ago and conceived. I was expecting the nose to be muted, as is the case with most young wines, but I was very excited to get a head full of raspberries and mushrooms. On the palate, the tannins are resolved, and the wine shows bright acidity with a medium body of integrated fruit and a long lifted finish. It's delicious. It will integrate more fully over the next year and I have been sipping it over the last 2 hours and the harmony is forming. I might call it the love child between 2015 and 2016, but of course, I Am Biased.

I feel like we could have just sent this email on its own but we are proud of ALIT and we are ecstatic for a return to normalcy, its all about 2021. So let's add fuel to the fire. I am done with the old. I've said it many times, many ways, but ALIT is the best sub $20 bottle of wine in the world. 100% guaranteed.
