What makes NYV unique is the ability to explore new wines, regions, producers, trends, or pretty much anything we want to do with true oenophiles. We are the James Beard House for wine. Another fantastic night exploring the world-class wines of LUIS PATO with the encyclopedic mind of Lewis Kopman. Bairrada, Portugal is one of the most underrated regions in the wineoverse and Baga is a royal variety, every bit as exciting as Nebbiolo. A killer table of wine lovers at DA CLUB. Great stuff.

The greatest high school basketball team in history is without question the 1981 - 1983 Poets from Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland coached by Bob Wade.
The 1982 Poets squad went 29-0 and the 1983 team went 31-0. 1982 graduated Gary Graham who played at UNLV (ranked #1 nationally) and the great David Wingate who won a national championship at Georgetown before embarking on a 15-year NBA career. The 1983 squad graduated Reggie Williams, the late great Reggie Lewis, and of course, Muggsy Bogues.
Reggie Williams was national high school player of the year in 1983 and went on to lead Georgetown to a national championship while also earning Big East player of the year and consensus first team All-American for 'Reggie and the Miracles' during his collegiate career. Williams spent 10 years in the NBA.
Reggie Lewis, who tragically died on the court at 27 years old, went to Northeastern University in Boston and is still the all-time leading scorer and was 3 x ECAC North Player of the Year. Drafted in the first round by the Boston Celtics, Lewis became an NBA All-Star and was on the verge of superstardom before he passed away. He played 6 seasons in the NBA.
Tyrone Curtis ‘Muggsy’ Bogues, standing a gigantic 5ft 3in, is the smallest player in NBA history and played an astonishing 14 seasons in DA LEAGUE. Muggsy attended Wake Forest University winning the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award and left college as the ACC career leader in steals and assists.
That’s 45 combined seasons in the NBA from one team, with Lewis passing away at 27 BEFORE his prime.
DA CLUB honors the legacy of these Maryland LEGENDS with the ultra-private MUGGSY room featuring a 5’3” table and custom Joseph & Curtis wine cellar.

What a night. If you know, you know.
New York Vintners has hosted some of the most titanic, iconic, influential, and important winemakers in history over the course of our 20-year history. One of my fondest memories was the only time I ever met the great Emidio Pepe.
In 2014, we co-hosted an event at L'artusi with Joe Campanale in the wine room. A perfect New York night pulsing with energy. Diminutive in size, gigantic in stature, Emidio strolled into the wine room with his signature cap and his stunning granddaughter Chiara Pepe on his arm, who was only 20 years old at the time. He did not speak a word of English, but with his hands he wove the story of his family winery and incredible journey. Chiara translated for ‘grandfather’. I’ll never forget.
We lost a legend, one of the all-time greats. Emidio, say hi to Serge Hochar for us. RIP.

How much do we love Alberto Graci? Let me count the ways. Another epic visit from one of the KINGS OF ETNA. The Graci wines are so well-crafted, structured, and elegant. It was great to catch up with our friend, visit the Art Studio and break bread. His high elevation single vineyard Contrada are world class. Another rock star for the wall.

CJ McCollum has the cornerstone of an amazing wine legacy firmly set in the ground. McCollum Family Vineyards is built to last. Not only does CJ have a great palate, but he is also incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, hardworking, and dedicated to this wine journey. The proof is in the glass - which a lucky group of us discovered. Another super fun set of events at NYV.

What a run of Tuscany elite! Our friend Andrea Polidoro is taking Cupano into the rarest of air of Brunello producers, crafting seamless, elegant, and precise representations of Sangiovese harvested from biodynamic vines. Continuing the legacy of the late great Lionel Cousin, Cupano is certainly on the ascent for a relatively young winery. Do not miss Andrea's Contada Contro wines either. Another phenomenal night at Da Club. One more for the wall. FWD!!!!

Burgundy does not need another polite introduction. Last week at NYV, we gave it a proper interrogation.
Joined by visiting NYV friend and adopted Burghound Simon Battaglia from Melchior18 + Wine Source, we explored two very different sides of Burgundy.
First, the next generation: Yann Durieux, Florence Cholet, Domaine Jobard-Morey, and Fanny Sabre. Growers farming with conviction, making wines of precision, and proving that Burgundy’s future won’t necessarily arrive wearing a famous label.
Then came the icons: Mugnier, Leflaive, Barthod, Lafarge, Méo-Camuzet, d’Angerville, Prieuré Roch, and Cathiard. A lineup of benchmark producers that reminded us why Burgundy continues to set the standard.
The second night took a more playful turn, with a Burgundy game edition that tested palates, knowledge, and perhaps a few friendships along the way.
Across both evenings: village deep-dives, banger bottles, spirited debate, and the kind of table energy that reminds us why Burgundy remains Burgundy—impossible, emotional, and completely worth the obsession.
A wine’s quality is determined in the glass.

The future of Napa (and Bordeaux) is bright when you have Master Sommelier Carlton McCoy protecting some of the most historic vineyards in the world. Thoughtful, knowledgeable, articulate, and determined - he is at the helm of a movement forward that respects the traditions of the past. NYV was super lucky to share an evening picking his brain and trying some classics. Another one for the books.

Down 22 Points in the 4th Quarter, the Knicks had a 99% of losing Game 1.
But DA CLUB single-handedly brought them back to life with an international consortium of fans dragging our guys back into the fray.
The GREAT VULCAN OF THE VOLCANO Giuseppe Russo visited us for the first time and shared his brilliant wines and signed the wall. Members, friends, all. DATS WHAT DA CLUB IS ABOUT.
What a way to celebrate 20 Years of New York Vintners. Happy anniversary to us. 20 more and GO KNICKS.

Simonetta Valiani is the great-granddaughter of Ferruccio Biondi-Santi. Simonetta inherited the small parcel of vineyards and decided to start producing wine under the Le Chiuse name in 1993 with the help of her husband, Nicolò Magnelli, and their son, Lorenzo. Until then, the vineyards were rented to her uncle, Franco Biondi-Santi, which were at the time used exclusively for the iconic Biondi-Santi’s Riserva bottling. The vineyards are planted to the BS 11 Sangiovese clone, personally selected by Tancredi Biondi-Santi for these vineyards.
We were blown away to visit with Lorenzo Magnelli, the living incarnate of the great Biondi-Santi legacy, the Soul of Sangiovese. Keepers of the faith. Le Chiuse is TOP TOP.
